chop chop

My hair is getting the chop tomorrow.

It shall be my last visit to a hairdresser for almost a year (unless it suddenly strikes my fancy in Nepal, or if I get gum in my hair....which unfortunately happened with some frequency when I was younger, my curls would be propelled with masses of crackling static force and snatch & grab to jumpers, other people's faces, their lip gloss, glass windows, carpet, pets etc etc thus inevitably reel in sticky clumps of gum..)

I'm thinking volume and shape, is the way to go for my haircut. Something that looks effortlessly chic - without any effort.

Yes, I realise that this is an unattainable desire. Essentially since I'll be camping for many months - I can't imagine what my curls will reel in.

Camping in Cromford

Plans for the camping trip are slowly falling into place. Horse riding, hot tea, river side walks, damper, easter eggs and kayaking are on the cards so far.

Magic mister please, magic

This was one of my early TON posts, but it’s one of my favorites.

I used to work in a dressmaking department. I was never celebrated for cutting straight lines, in fact I was rubbish at it and always sneakily added an extra 20cm to each costumer’s request to make up for my lack of scissor skills.

When not acting as a renegade sales assistant behind the counter, I took pleasure in keeping the rolls of fabric tightly wrapped and evenly spaced on the shelves. Needless to say this was a fruitless task as chaos reigned as soon as the costumers came into the store each day.

So I find these pictures all rather pleasing to the eye.

1920's

Mish and I both scored the day off work, so we hit the highway for the ramblin' Mountains.

With tree lined streets and flowers blossoming over picket fences, it's no wonder that Leura is known as the Garden Village.

Though we're both broke, we both managed to convince ourselves that we needed to buy a dress - Mish nabbed a lovely 1950's summer dress and I bought 1970's maxi dress (it's a practical travel piece...right?).

After lunch we hot footed it out of Leura before we spent any more moola. In Wentworth Falls we spotted these gorgeous art deco tiles.

A couple of posters advertising the upcoming 1920's festival also caught our attention. To say I'm peachy keen is a bit of an understatement. I've been dreaming about flapping about the place since seeing The Sartorialist's pictures of New York's Jazz-Age Lawn Party.

Dress me up!

[via: society6]

It started with one cute cartoon with a brilliant pun 'indeergestion'. Before I knew it I stumbled onto 40 pages of pug images - it sounds excessive and probably slightly obsessive but I couldn't help but fawn over the ugly little beauties.

I've just discovered 'We Heart It' - a treasure trove of eye candy from all around the web.

I could have posted countless images, but I don't want to give the impression that I dress dogs on the weekend - heck I don't even have a dog! But you would be insane not to call these adorable.

It's amazing that such an animal evolved given the plethora of health problems they suffer from - according to wikipaedia the pug has to rely on it's owner to clean it's ears and between the folds on it's face. Talk about pampered pooch.

Yet I'm smitten! I want a pug! I promise not to humiliate by dressing it in costumes...unless it's a fancy dress party.

Laundry Day

The socks are running out and the basket is overflowing.

Somehow Ellie Niemeyer's photos make doing laundry seem like a pleasant way to while away a sunny afternoon.

I think I might listen to '5 Star Laundry' and pretend that my mismatch socks are a thing of whimsy.
