Emails and podcasts

Emailing isn't quite the same as real conversation, so I was pretty happy to catch my little sis on the phone last night, she proceeded to make me extremely jealous by recounting her wild adventures and letting me in on her vague plans. Stories of museums, parks, markets and festivals... oh the jealousy river flowed! It makes me want to throw a few things in a bag and jump on the flight next to my brother on Thursday and run round ye old London town!

In other news I discovered today that the lovely Joy from Joy The Baker has a podcast, huzzah, what I after actually cooking, and watching is cooking is listening to people talking about people cooking. I let you know how it is when I actually sit down and listen to a few. Somecinnamon sugar pull-apart bread baking in the oven would be the perfect warming scent for this dark, wet night, ideas seem to be afoot!

Also, how did I miss the blog What Katie Ate? Oh me oh my! It's dark, intense and beautiful, and the best it's based in Sydney so I can visit the restaurants, shops and markets.

Maths run

This blog is a document to how much I adore music, with strong inclinations towards indie music. I also love running. I love doing it, reading about it, plotting routes, highlighting training plans, talking about it, listening to other people talk about it, day dreaming about it, buying running apparel.

Yup, I’m in deep.

I wasn’t too shabby at maths at school, but I’ve certainly lost what the limited skills I had. However this is a simple equation features on indie running soup:

Indie music + Running = Happiness

Square the resultant and times by 86, then you come to close to describing how music and running make me feel.

Thanks to Indie running soup I'm positively besides myself for my run tomorrow. I've picked the 2010 year in the review mix:

Philadelphia Grand Jury - "The Good News"

The Fast Romantics - "Moneymouth"

Hellogoodbye - "You Sleep Alone"

Fanfarlo - "Sand & Ice"

Sam Isaac - "Come Back Home Tonight"

The Budos Band - "Unbroken, Unshaven"

Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Buster Voodoo"

Robbers On High Street - "Electric Eye"

Hot Chip - "Thieves in the Night"

Scissor Sisters - "Sex and Violence"

Phantogram - "As Far As I Can See"

Oberhofer - "I Could Go"

Sleigh Bells - "Tell 'Em"

Hungry Kids of Hungary - "The Vacationer"

They also offer the delightfully entitled podcasts - rotten toenails, heart attack mix, junk run mix, intervals with the indies, shin splint mix. Bliss.

"Eye" know that

I think I've been scarred for life.

The unfortunate incident of the fingernail in the eye became a saga this morning when i awoke to discover that the nail was still in fact lodged in my eye.

To save you from the gory details, its now been removed and my eye is healthy, but in a somewhat irritated state.

So with the day off work and Don Draper proving to be a sight too sore for eyes, I decided that this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up on Sunday Night Safran podcasts and organise my bookcase.

Besides unearthing an unhealthy amount of dust, i stumbled across a surprising number of double ups, including:

My obsession with books is to the extent that i enjoy reading about reading.

And i made the painful realisation that stray coins really do add up to a substantial amount when all those $10 penguin classics are piled together.

The after picture makes the bookcase look surprisingly untouched. With there being too many books to be organise them in any other fashion besides stacks three books deep, the exercise seems to have been somewhat pointless.

Except now the books are dust free, as i did an exceptionally through job of inhaling it all.

Despite knowing that i have more books than i know what to do with, i couldn't help but buy this little beauty when i went to the optometrist today.

For less than the price of a magazine it was positively nipping at my heels to be taken home, who am i to say no?
